dream

I had a really detailed dream last night. I started out at the airport, where we were waiting in line to get checked in or whatever. There were two ladies in front of me. I asked them if they knew if the line at the other end of the terminal was open (because it looked like it had less people from where I was), and they said it wasn’t. Then the first lady turned to me and said really condescendingly “I don’t know what you’re used to, but we have to wait in lines here”.

Which doesn’t really sound that bad but you know how dreams are, in terms of emotions being constructed somewhat randomly. I was really angry that they treated me like some little brat 5 year old for just asking a question, and was venting about this to somebody in my family. I think my mom, not sure. We went in to a bookstore after we got through security and were just browsing. I saw a new release on the top rack of some display shelf. It had a hand-drawn portrait of some girl on the front and I liked the drawing so I read the back. It was about some Michigan undergraduate who liked playing racquetball but didn’t like how all the balls were blue (I guess because blue is Michigan’s color and she was just getting sick of it?). She invented some paint or coating or something that caused the ball to change colors as it flew through the air. On the back, it said something to the effect that she “brought new insight to previously unquestioned concepts of surface normals and the frequency of light.” I started thinking about this and then woke up.

I was struck by how specific the book was, and I even searched around a little bit this morning to see if there was anything similar. Surprise surprise, nothing. My brain must’ve worked pretty hard on that one, though.
